Ericsson to Manufacture 5G Antennas in India

Swedish telecommunications company Ericsson has announced plans to manufacture all telecom antennas for the Indian market locally by June 2025. This move aims to meet the increasing demand from Indian telecom operators, particularly Bharti Airtel and Reliance Jio, who are rapidly expanding their 5G services.​

The antenna production will take place in Gurgaon, Haryana, in collaboration with VVDN Technologies. After fulfilling domestic requirements, Ericsson intends to export a significant portion of these India-manufactured antennas.Additionally, the company’s logistics hub in Pune will manage regional distribution and supply chain operations.​

This initiative is part of Ericsson’s broader strategy to strengthen its manufacturing footprint in India. The company has been operating in India since 1994 and has recently scaled up its production capacity in Pune in partnership with Jabil to support 5G network deployments. This expansion is expected to generate employment for around 2,000 people in Pune.​

Ericsson’s commitment to local manufacturing aligns with India’s ‘Make in India’ initiative and reflects the country’s growing importance in the global 5G landscape.​
