India is rapidly solidifying its position in the global race to develop 6G technology, ranking among the top six nations in patent filings related to the next-generation wireless network. According to recent studies, the country stands between fourth and sixth in global rankings, underscoring its growing influence in shaping the future of communication standards.

In a significant step forward, India will host the prestigious World Telecommunications Standardisation Assembly (WTSA) in Delhi from October 15-24. The event will see participation from delegates representing 190 countries, marking the first time this assembly will be held in Asia. The WTSA serves as a crucial platform for setting international standards in emerging technologies, including 6G, artificial intelligence, and big data.

India’s impressive strides in 6G research and development come at a pivotal moment as nations race to define the framework and standards for the next phase of wireless communication. With advancements in artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things (IoT), and big data, the impact of 6G is expected to be transformative, enabling ultra-fast, low-latency connections for industries ranging from healthcare to smart cities.

The upcoming WTSA assembly offers India a unique opportunity to contribute to the global conversation on telecommunications standards. It positions the country as a key player in the development of future technologies, with potential long-term economic and technological benefits.
